Today wasn't a bad day, but it also wasn't a great day. My legs just haven't felt great since the rest day and we battled some more wind today. Luckily, as you can see in the route above, we changed direction frequently so we did get breaks from the wind. It was also a warm day so it was nice that it was "short". Unfortunately, that also meant we arrived at the hotel early and our rooms weren't ready for a good 1.5 hours (hence the ice cream bar).
From a scenery perspective it was nice. We meandered through the Michigan countryside encountering farms, beautiful lakes, and few cute small towns. I should also mention that Holland, the town we started at this morning, looked super cute. I wish we would've been there for more than 12 hours so that I could've at least walked through the downtown. Maybe a return trip is warranted at some point.
Tomorrow is our last 120 mile day and it looks like it could be a doozy of a day. The current weather prediction is calling for wind and rain. Fingers crossed it isn't as bad as it currently looks like it will be.
Now for dinner because I'm hungry!
Day 33 stats:
distance: 90.1 miles (I think I lost about a mile when I forgot to turn my Garmin back on)
elevation gain: 2976 ft (a bit more than the route profile indicated)
nutrition:
breakfast: eggs, potatoes, fruit, muffin, NuGo protein bar
lunch: PB&J, potato salad, chocolate chip cookie, La Croix, 1 small coke
post-ride: 1 recovery drink, ice cream bar, potato chips, 2 La Croix
gels: 4
bloks: 1
52 oz skratch superfuel, 52 oz zym, 26 oz water
Day 34 details - Marshall to Rossford, OH
planned distance: 120 miles
planned elevation gain: 1944 ft
Hope the weather (wind & rain) isn't too bad tomorrow! On the positive side, you climb 200 ft/12 miles which is well below your typical East Bay terrain with 1000 ft/10 miles! 😋🚲🍕🍦
