Day 28: La Crosse to Spring Green

I had fun today! It's not often that you ride 110 miles and climb almost 5000 ft and get to say that you had fun, but I did. We had moments of goofing around, taking it easy, enjoying the scenery, legs exploding because we were riding a 19% grade, hard pulls, and fun descents. It was a good day.

The day started with a little hiccup when we came upon a bridge that was out, which resulted in an extra 6 miles for day. And it ended shortly after we rode past Taliesin, the home of Frank Lloyd Wright. In the middle we wound our way through the hills of the Wisconsin countryside. It was beautiful. We did have one hill, that we have nicknamed the wall, which surprised us a bit. According to our Garmin the average grade was 1.9%, but as the nickname indicates, it was greater than 10% the whole climb and maxed out at 19%. Luckily it was short enough that the 19% was bearable.

Tomorrow is a short day at 55 miles so we get an extra hour in the morning and don't have breakfast until 7am.
